The Gospel Coalition, founded by the well-known theologians Timothy Keller, who was also widely known in Hungary, and Canadian theologian D. A. Carson, held its biennial conference for women in Indianapolis, USA, from June 11–13. The Psalms were at the heart of the event, but our experiences and impressions can perhaps best be summed up by the statement in the title: Christianity is good, true, and beautiful.
Martina Wasserloos Strunk, President of the European Area of the World Communion of Reformed Churches paid another visit to the Reformed Church in Transcarpathia in the spirit of Christian solidarity, with a focus on women’s role in war. Highlight of the program was the preparatory meeting with women to represent the RCT at the women’s retreat in Beirut.
We often hear about the disadvantages women have faced throughout history - we need only recall the lack of voting rights or forced marriages. Only on rare occasions, however, is it discussed that they have played a crucial role in shaping history even within these constraints. Their contribution was essential in equality and mutual respect we enjoy today.
